Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is the national governing body for padel in the UK. Since taking on this role in 2020, the LTA has been dedicated to promoting and developing padel, one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. They aim to make padel more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
What Role Does Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Play in Padel?
The LTA plays a pivotal role in the growth and development of padel in the UK. They have invested significantly in building the infrastructure for the sport, increasing the number of padel courts from 50 to 350 between 2019 and 2023. Their new strategy, launched in 2024, aims to further expand this to 1,000 courts by 2029. The LTA also focuses on increasing participation, with a goal to grow the number of annual padel players from 129,000 to 400,000.
In addition to infrastructure and participation, the LTA supports the development of coaches and players. They have introduced new coaching courses and a performance pathway to help British players excel on the international stage. The LTA also organises national competitions and works to raise the visibility of padel, aiming to boost public awareness and interest in the sport.
Through these efforts, the LTA is committed to making padel a prominent and inclusive sport across the UK, connecting communities and inspiring excellence.
